HOMESTEAD BEEKEEPING 5.4.19

65.00

An intro to the world of homestead beekeeping, this class covers beekeeping equipment, honeybee behavior, and gives students hands-on experience with three different hives: the Langstroth, Warre, and top bar hive. Seasoned beekeeper Gary Coyan will show students how to set up a hive for the first time, manage the hive throughout the year, and prepare the hive for winter. The focus here is on sustainable hive management for bee health and pollination, with honey production as a bonus rather than a priority. If weather allows, students will assist in adding bees to a new hive. Kids welcome if enrolled alongside a parent.
