PINE NEEDLE BASKETS 5.25.19

75.00

Learn all you need to know to craft a beautiful pine needle basket using pine needles from the Ponderosa pine trees that grow in the Pacific Northwest. The teacher will prepare a basket starter for each student, and instruct students in making a basic stitch using artificial sinew and a tapestry needle. Once this stitch is learned students will continue working on the basket adding more stitches to the coil and eventually making the basket larger. We will also discuss all the critical steps that take place before weaving begins— the gathering, sorting, and preparing of the pine needles. No basketry experience necessary.
