THE WORLD OF HAND SPINDLES 3.17.18 & 3.24.18

195.00

Spindles are used all over the world, to create every kind of yarn and textile imaginable.  Join Tracy Hudson for an in-depth exploration of this ancient skill.  Slow down and appreciate the feel of fiber between your fingers, and discover your own favorite way of making yarn with spindles.  Through hands-on practice, you will learn a wide-ranging set of spindle spinning techniques, and visual presentations will provide knowledge of how the various techniques fit into the cultural history of handspinning. The spinning tools are simple enough that students will be encouraged to try making their own - a great way to learn more about how spinning works!  An informed perspective on tools and materials will enable you to choose the most suitable and enjoyable way to incorporate handspinning in your life.  Each student will come home with two types of spindles.

Two Saturdays in a row: March 17 & 24 :: Beckett Point :: 9 am- 4 pm :: Ages 18+ or 16+ with parent enrollment :: $180+$15 material fee :: Instructor Tracy Hudson
