This three day workshop consists of an introduction to metallurgy, heat treating and hardening steel, types of tool steel and forging techniques.  After learning the basics, students are given the freedom to design and create tools of their choice under the watchful eye of instructor Erik Newquist.  Newquist stated,"many of these tools are hard to find or are expensive.  By teaching students to make their own tools they gain a creative freedom and can make specialized tools out of a dollars worth of metal."
Class size is limited to 6.  Students need ALL cotton clothing, gloves, and leather shoes or boots.
